During Eyelid Lifting
During the operation, slots are made in the natural folds of the eyelid, in the upper eyelid wrinkles, and under the eyelashes or just behind the lower eyelid. In this way, the cracks are not noticeable after healing.
During the procedure, the surgeon will make precise marks to determine where you need to remove excess skin and fat. Some muscles also can be removed. Tissues are removed using surgical tools such as surgical shears, wireless cutting devices, and sometimes laser. The stitches or glues then are made to the tissue carefully, reshaping the areas around the eyebrows and eyelids. During surgery, your surgeon will determine how much skin, muscle, or fat should be removed, based on a preoperative assessment of factors such as the structure of the underlying facial muscles, the facial structure, and the symmetry of your eyebrows. Dry eye patients often need to remove less tissue to avoid exposing the eye to more air, which can aggravate the symptoms. The surgeon may also use a CO2 laser to enhance the process by restoring the skin and eliminating any remaining wrinkles in the eyelid and eyebrow area. In cases where the eyebrows are also dangling, a lifting procedure may also be necessary.
